The National Security Investigation Of Steel Products - Reed Smith
What it Means - What to Expect
The Commerce Department invoked a rarely used statute to begin an investigation into whether the current levels of steel imports are endangering our country’s national security. We expect that the investigation will be completed ahead of the 270-day mandatory deadline date. If the Commerce Department determines that national security is impaired by current import levels, the most likely response will be a combined program of increased tariffs and import licenses.
