Categories and Subscriptions
Membership
is categorised according to the number of each member firm's
partners/shareholders/members (equity or non-equity) and exclusively
subscribed offices. Accordingly, membership subscriptions are currently
(from 30 November 2008) € 1,600 (1-10 partners), € 2,650 (11-25), and
€3,700 (26 or more) per year.
Retreats
A two-day partners retreat is held twice each year, rotatng among
different regions and returning to headquarters in Austria every third year,
allowing the partners of the IBLC member firms to become better
acquainted. Members are entitled annually to one, two or three
(depending on membership category) meeting credits.
Publications
IBLC
member firms enjoy a 20 per cent rebate on all Center CD and on-line
publications.
IBLC advises its members on the organisation, implementation and
distribution of research and informational materials for the legal and
business communities. The Center also organises and manages print,
CD-Rom and online distribution of IBLC publications.
Workshops/Surveys
The Center also facilitates surveys and seminars among IBLC members on
law firm management and marketing issues such as transnational client
acquisition and retention, billing practices, or professional
responsibility. Relevant workshops and seminars can be organised for
business development meetings, which are frequently held preceding
partners' retreats.
Referrals and Exclusivity
The
IBLC does not directly promote referrals or transfer of business,
although regular contact among members inevitably entails some impact
on the exchange of business among them.
The IBLC is not a network of law firms and implies no
exclusive relationship among its members. Its members are linked by
their common interest in broadening
their business contacts internationally
and their desire to support and benefit from the educational
and development aims of the members.
Admission
Process
Candidates
are asked to complete a confidential questionnaire, which is reviewed by the
IBLC Secretariat, Council and Chair. If deemed appropriate by these bodies, the
candidacy is put before the entire membership and if there are no
objections during a 30-day vetting period, the candidate will be invited to
complete its registration and will be admitted on the next 1 December or 1 June.
